The Joys of Writing

PictureI would love to have this at my house!
Well let's try for a third time to see if this will post properly! No clue what is going on with the website today but each time I save this or make a change it seems to disappear on me.

As many of you know I am working on a very old manuscript and some of you are even following the story via my newsletter. Well today I came across some parts of the manuscript that were out of order... it was typed up many many years ago. There have been a number of different people that have read the manuscript in its first rough draft format. Unbeknownst to me however a few of the parts were placed back in the wrong order.
While this will not mess up the readers for my newsletter it does make more work for me in the aspect of making sure that the spacing and everything else is correct once I get those missing parts into the full digital version of the story.
I am thankful that the way the story is written it truly will not confuse the readers of the newsletter but it does mean that there will be parts in the completed and published version of the story that will be new to them. I am also thankful that I have a husband that will quietly listen to me while I vent about things like the manuscript being out of order and of my website messing up and losing this post twice already. lol
Pretty soon I will be researching where I can have hardcover books created at as my David and Ragnhild story I believe deserves the hardcover option for people that are wanting to get a physical copy of the book.
Blessed Be everyone I hope you all have had a great weekend and that the coming week is kind to us all.

P.S. It was more like eight times that I tried to post this before I gave up and called customer support today. lol But it is working now so YAY! lol

PictureValentine's Day Gift
The days are finally starting to get longer and before too long spring will be here! Then hard upon its heels will be summer. With summer time comes some very long weekends for my husband and I in the form of Scottish Highland Game Festivals. They start in June and don’t end until mid-September for us.

Other Scottish events happen between now and the start of the gaming season as well as craft faires and Taekwondo tournaments. My husband is hoping to obtain his second degree black belt before Nationals this year. He should test next month for it and I’m certain that he will do well.

I hope that everyone had a nice Valentine’s Day yesterday, my wonderful husband surprised me with a beautiful blue topaz necklace. We spent the evening watching the UFC MMA fights on TV while having dinner at home with an old boyfriend of mine.

Yes you read that correctly and old boyfriend of mine. The manner in which we are still friends is simple. We went from being a couple to being friends and we have maintained that, for which I am thankful. Listening to my husband and my old boyfriend discuss the different fighters, as well as comic book characters, is extremely entertaining. I so enjoy the times that my ex gets to come back to Washington for a visit. I am so blessed that my husband also likes him and that they get along and enjoy each others company.

I get tomorrow off from work and hope to get more work done on my next Forever Fey story. I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend.

Blessed Be.

Scottish Concerts and Chickens

This has been a long, fun and interesting weekend. Friday night my husband and I had the joy of spending the evening with a number of wonderful friends at Benaroya Hall in Seattle to a Masters of the Scottish Arts Concert. This is an annual event that the Celtic Arts Foundation puts on during their Winter School.

They fly in people that are masters within their respective instruments such as Scottish Highland Pipes, Small Pipes, Tenor/Snare/Bass drums, and Fiddles. These are the instructors for the Winter School and the concerts that they put on are absolutely incredible. One of my favorite people to watch each year at this concert is Tyler Fry, he plays the tenor drum and to call him amazing is far too mild a term. This young man is extremely accomplished and so very talented. He travels and plays with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers out of Scotland.

To learn more about Winter School, the Masters of the Scottish Arts Concerts or just the Celtic Arts Foundation itself just go out to their website at celticarts.org. These are also the folks that put on the Skagit Highland Games events each year the second full week of July.
Yesterday I had an auction to deal with at work and then the husband and I headed to Everett to get our taxes out of the way and done for the year. The fun part was going to Everett Comics and seeing what they had that was new. Yes, I like to go into comic book stores… well a few select ones any ways and Everett Comics is one the best in opinion.

I bet at this point you are all wondering about the chicken comment in the title. Well, I don’t blame you for wondering. I have two neighbors that have chickens and it seems that I have become a chicken wrangler. lol One has quite a few and they normally stay within their own yard but there have been a few times that they have ventured down along my fence line and gotten into my front yard. While I don’t mind this I do worry that they will get out into the street in front of my house and get hit by a car. So I go out and get them headed back home. Today the other neighbors’ two chickens somehow escaped their yard and were wandering about in mine. Once again I headed out to wrangle chickens though my poor husband had to help this time.

I hope that all of you are having a wonderful weekend and may it be free of chicken wrangling. lol

Blessed Be Everyone

Stop the bullying...

It is a sad thing to see what had started out as a friendship turn suddenly to something that has a person apprehensive to open even a simple email. People disagree about things all the time... right? Right.
Why is it that some people think they have the right to tell others what they can or cannot do? Who they should and shouldn't respect? Things like that are an individual's right. It should be dictated by that individuals own views and beliefs -- not by what others, or society, tell them it should be. It is our differences that make this world NOT be absolutely boring.
But some people, despite stating that they have let things go will use any little perceived slight to attack another person. They misread something because they only took the time to skim the letter, email, what-have-you and see what they want to see within the text of the document.
Even when told “You misread that. Please read it again.” they do not always do that and continue on with their angry tirade. I don’t understand this nor do I understand bullies. Others have tried to explain it to me with the excuses of: Oh that person is going through this, that, or whatever. Or the ever popular: That is just who they are, don’t take it personally.
Whenever one individual is constantly misreading things from a specific individual, When things like that have happened so often and has been spewed outward directed at one individual… how is that individual not supposed to take it personally? How are they to attend events where there is a great chance the bully will be there?
How are they expected to enjoy and learn from an event when they are concerned the bully will take the opportunity to change from written verbal abuse to face to face verbal abuse or worse… physical abuse? This bullying is not a secret; others have bore witness to it. When confronted by others the bully has been contrite, apologetic and gone so far as to state that they didn’t realize that what they were doing was being perceived in that manner and they would work on being a better person.
People say to just avoid the bully, call them out on their behavior, to stand up to them even. What does one do when all of that seems to be to no avail? What does one do when a third person brings the bully into a conversation and the bully uses that as an excuse to start yet again in their assault against the individual person?
I am asking these things because I personally know someone going through this very thing. It has been going on for over a year and despite trying to avoid the bully. They still want to attend events and completely miss the group of individuals that attend these specific functions. But they do not go because they don’t want to deal with the bully. Last time an event was attended the bully kept physically getting into the personal space of the person they were targeting. Even going to far as to try and stroke their arm in the manner a friend would do. All the while the bully is saying, "I miss our friendship. Why can't we be friends. Even if you don't like me I like you and still want to be your friend."
Not being able to attend the events has become somewhat detrimental to the person’s well being. I am at a loss as to what they should do. The idea of obtaining a restraining order is a bit much for them, as that would mean they themselves would not be able to attend the group functions without being in violation of the order. They have completely removed the ability of the bully to contact them be it by phone, email or Facebook.
Thank you all for letting me vent. Perhaps a solution to my friends’ problem will be found and all will be well again. Only time will tell. I hope you all are having a safe and fun weekend.

Blessed Be Everyone.
