Enter Ember the perfect companion not only for Bridhe but for us as well, especially me. She was full of life, love and endless energy. She grew from a cute little pup into a gorgeous big girl with a huge heart full of love to share. She had such a sweet way about her that over the years I lost track of how many people would tell me that they’re afraid of Rottweiler’s as they would love on her and be getting loves from her.
Like her sister Bridhe (half rott/half choc lab) she never once met a dog that she didn’t like and want to be friends with. This also went for the humans that she met. She was always ready with kisses and hugs for everyone. Her Auntie Jann called her Ms. Licky-lick. She could not greet anyone at the door without having a toy in her mouth – two or three was the standard.
She was my constant companion and if for some reason I left the house for more than an hour or two she was then glued to my side the rest of the day after I got home. She had to check out the garage every time I took the trash out to make sure it was safe. She always had to be in the same room as I was or just outside it so she should watch me and everything else that was going one. She loved my god-daughter Claire to the moon and back and she was the same way with one of my best friends’ boys. She would be beside herself with excitement of play when she saw Sebastian and Zachary show up.
Sadly on the 24th of April 2014 at 0015 in the morning Ember passed over the rainbow bridge. My constant companion of five years was gone. Never again will I feel the weight of her head as she lays rests on my chest while I try to read or play a game of solitaire on my phone in bed. Never again will she bring me her ball or just climb into my lap to make me stop working on one of my books to take a break and play.
No more will she have bad days because of her stomach making her ill. She is at peace and playing with all my other fur babies that have passed over the rainbow bridge. I know that when it is time she will be there with the other to help me and my husband find our way across. She will never be far from my thoughts and will always be in my heart.
Rest easy puppy girl, my sweet little punkertin. I love you but in time will be with you again.
